PMS is not a myth nor an urban legend

It’s very much real and definitely scary to anyone subjected my mood swings, I do however try to isolate myself and stay out of everyone’s way. I get really cranky and I have this rage within me that looks a little bit like the Incredible Hulk.

Some men tend to think that women uses this as an excuse to behave badly but what they don’t understand is that we didn’t choose this, it happens to us, a natural hormonal response that is out of our control. Trust me none of us consciously chooses to be oversensitive, irritable, depressed, cry,  or have mood swings where we are sad one minute and angry the next. Then we still need to deal with the bloating, fatigue, pimples (read huge) , breast tenderness-back aches-stomach cramps (read mind numbing and excruciating pain) and the food cravings (yes it’s perfectly normal to finish a slab of chocolate and still want eat a whole tube of Pringle’s.) DON”T YOU DARE LOOK AT ME AND JUDGE!!

Studies indicate that PMS results from the alterations in or interactions between the levels of sex hormones and  brain chemicals known as neurotransmitters. See we even have scientific proof.

So if you have a wife, sister, girlfriend that you know is experiencing any of this right now – be tolerant and sensitive towards her. We are well aware of our behaviour during this time but we’ll try to tone it down.
